I’ve spent almost thirty years working in and around leadership roles in the B2B information and events industries — as an operator, an owner, and a board member.
Over that time, I’ve led businesses through periods of growth and uncertainty, worked on turnarounds, been involved in acquisitions, and ultimately sold my own business to private equity. I’ve worked with founders, leadership teams and boards across Europe and Africa, where the decisions mattered and the pressure was real.
I have a PhD in Chemistry and an MBA, but I’ve always learned most through experience — by building, leading and delivering in real-world situations. Those experiences shape how I work today,
What tends to matter more is that I understand, first-hand, what it feels like to carry responsibility for a business: the weight of decisions, the mix of confidence and doubt, and the fact that leadership can be both rewarding and lonely at the same time.
I’m not focused on theory for its own sake. I learn — and help others learn — through experience, reflection and doing. I care about ideas that can be translated into action, and about commitments that genuinely add value rather than simply looking good on paper.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and a father to two daughters. I’m lucky to have the flexibility to spend time doing things I enjoy — staying active, getting outdoors, and tackling the occasional over-ambitious DIY project. I also spend time supporting organisations on a pro bono basis, because helping others make progress — particularly in business — is something I find genuinely purposeful.
I’m based in Bristol and now focus on mentoring business owners and leadership teams.
Today, my focus is on mentoring business owners and leaders who want thoughtful, practical support grounded in real experience. I enjoy working with people who are curious, open, and serious about turning intent into action.
